Concrete Finisher 

Job Summary 


The Concrete Finisher is a skilled tradesman responsible for smoothing, leveling, and finishing concrete surfaces to achieve specified textures and appearances. This position works as part of a concrete crew on various commercial and residential projects, applying expertise in hand and power tool operation to create high-quality concrete surfaces. 

The Finisher plays a critical role in delivering the final product quality, working closely with the Crew Leader and other team members to ensure concrete work meets project specifications and client expectations. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Spread, level, and smooth freshly poured concrete using hand and power tools 

  • Operate power screeds, troweling machines, and bull floats 

  • Apply various finishes including broom, exposed aggregate, stamped, and smooth finishes 

  • Edge and joint concrete to prevent cracking 

  • Apply curing compounds and protective sealers as specified 

  • Assist with setting forms and establishing grades 

  • Prepare subgrade and base materials 

  • Place and tie reinforcement as directed 

  • Set expansion joints and control joint materials 

  • Verify elevations and slopes before pour 

  • Identify and correct defects during finishing process 

  • Wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and knee pads 

  • Follow safe work practices and report hazards and unsafe conditions to crew leader 

  • Valid driver's license 

 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in concrete finishing 

  • Proficiency with hand trowels, floats, edgers, and power equipment 

  • Knowledge of various concrete finishing techniques 

  • Ability to work in various weather conditions 

  • Physical ability to kneel, bend, and work on concrete surfaces for extended periods 

  • Reliable transportation to job sites 

  • Valid driver's license 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to kneel and work on knees for extended periods 

  • Bend, stoop, and maintain awkward positions while finishing 

  • Lift and carry up to 60 pounds regularly 

  • Work in heat, cold, rain, and varying weather conditions 

  • Stand and walk on uneven surfaces 

  • Operate vibrating power equipment for extended periods 

  • Wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, knee pads, steel-toe boots, and protective clothing
